The foundation of The Stonery, LLC was laid in 1999 with the inception of Rapid Cuts, LLC.  Started as a waterjet jobshop, Rapid Cuts had its long-term sights squarely set on stone work.  While the company was occasionally contracted to cut stone, Rapid Cuts fully fabricated its first kitchen countertops and stone inlaid medallions in 2001, and in 2002 began to really focus on marble and granite.  The complete shift to marble and granite work occurred over the course of 2003 and 2004.

Rapid Cuts’ evolution from jobshop to counter top company was completed in 2006 with its relocation to its current 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Mooresville, NC.  Along with the physical move and strategic shift away from inlaid medallions came the name change to The Stonery, LLC.  The company's ownership is comprised of Rick and Molly Self.

Herein are a number of photographs that do a good job of showing the quality of our work.  All of the projects pictured were custom works that we both designed and created.  In addition to our extensive base of custom residential projects, our inlay work can be found inside the Carolina Panthers' Suite 87 (Bank of America Stadium), as well as Daytona Beach's Ocean Walk.

Inlay work or countertops, the constant of The Stonery has been innovation.  We were...

...the first in the Charlotte metropolitan area to use waterjet technology in the fabrication of stone.

...the first in the Carolinas to design and manufacture high quality stone intarsia projects.

...the first in the Charlotte metro area to utilize a full-fledged cnc bridge saw, digitally manipulating and cutting slabs for optimal material layout and project flow.

...the first in the Charlotte metro area, and one of few in the country, to configure its installation trucks with long-reaching cranes.
